This page explains every cookie and similar technology used on the Saint City Barber Co. website, why we use it, and how you can turn it off without breaking the things you actually want to do (booking an appointment, logging in, redeeming a gift card). We try to keep our cookie footprint small. We don’t use third-party advertising cookies unless this page is updated to list them by name.
Cookies are part of how the modern web works. They’re also one of the most confusing topics on the internet, partly because the EU and a handful of U.S. state laws require disclosure but don’t agree on what should be disclosed or how. We’ve chosen the simplest path: tell you everything we know about every cookie that touches your browser when you visit our site, and give you the tools to opt out.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and tags. Together they let us remember your preferences and understand how the site is used.
2. Categories of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function — booking flow, login session, security, and CSRF protection. These cannot be disabled in our preferences panel.
- Functional. Remember preferences such as your barber or saved cart items. Disabling these may reduce functionality.
- Analytics. Help us understand which pages get used so we can improve them. Data is collected in aggregate where possible.
- Advertising (only if enabled). Used to measure marketing effectiveness on platforms like Google Ads or Meta. We do not use advertising cookies unless this paragraph is updated to list the specific providers.
3. Specific cookies and providers
The exact list of cookies depends on the integrations enabled on the site at any given time. The owner should keep this list current. As of the effective date above, we use:
- Session cookie issued by our authentication provider for logged-in customers and staff.
- First-party analytics cookie to measure aggregate site usage.
- Optional reservation/booking cookie that remembers your in-progress booking.
When advertising cookies are added in the future, this section will list each provider (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Pixel), the cookie name, and its purpose.
4. How to control cookies
- Browser controls: Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies. See your browser’s help pages for instructions.
- Do Not Track: We honor the “Do Not Track” header where technically feasible.
- Analytics opt-out: You can install your provider’s opt-out extension (e.g., the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on).
- Advertising opt-out: Use industry tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative or Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out pages.
Disabling some cookies will affect functionality (for example, logged-in features and remembering your booking).
5. Updates to this policy
When we add, remove, or change cookies on the site, we will update this page and the “Effective date” above.
6. What happens if you block all cookies
You can still browse the site, read every blog post, view our service menu and barber profiles, and check pricing. What stops working: staying logged in to a customer account, the booking flow remembering your service selection between steps, and our ability to know whether a session converted into an appointment. We don’t use cookies to gate content — every public page is fully readable without consent.
7. Local storage and similar tech
In addition to cookies, your browser may store small amounts of data in “localStorage” or “sessionStorage.” We use these the same way we use cookies — only for functional reasons (e.g., remembering your in-progress booking). Clearing your browser data removes these along with cookies.
8. Contact
Questions about cookies or this policy? Email hello@saintcitybarber.com or call (435) 366-2661. If you noticed a cookie on our site that isn’t described above, please tell us — we treat that as a bug to fix, not an inconvenience.
Our promise
We will never sell or rent your browsing data, we will never use third-party tracking pixels without naming them on this page, and we will never make the booking flow contingent on accepting marketing cookies. The only cookies we set without asking are the strictly necessary ones — the same ones every booking site needs to function.
