Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making the shop and the website usable for everyone.

Effective date: January 1, 2026

This document uses placeholder language for Saint City Barber Co. (1330 W Sunset Blvd STE H1, St. George, UT). It is provided for convenience and is not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a licensed attorney before relying on it.

Accessibility, for us, isn’t a compliance checkbox. It’s a measure of how well our shop and our website actually work for the full range of people who live in or visit St. George. That includes guests with mobility devices, sensory sensitivities, vision or hearing differences, cognitive disabilities, temporary injuries, and the everyday accessibility needs that show up at every age — strollers, arthritis, a cast on a wrist, a migraine on a bright afternoon.

This statement describes what we’ve done, what we’re working on, and how to tell us when we’ve missed the mark. The shortest version: if anything about getting a haircut here is harder than it should be, we want to hear about it directly so we can fix it.

Our commitment

Saint City Barber Co. is committed to providing a welcoming, comfortable, and accessible experience for every customer — both in our shop and on this website. We continually work to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and to remove barriers that keep people from getting a great haircut.

In the shop

  • Our entrance and chairs aim to accommodate guests using mobility devices. If you need help getting set up, call ahead and we will be ready.
  • Service animals are welcome.
  • If you have sensory sensitivities or need a quieter chair, let us know when booking and we will do our best to accommodate.
  • Children’s and family-friendly bookings can be staggered to reduce wait time.

On this website

  • Pages use semantic HTML and one logical heading hierarchy per page.
  • Color contrast aims to meet WCAG AA on text and interactive elements.
  • All meaningful images include alternative text.
  • Forms include visible labels, error messages, and keyboard support.
  • Interactive elements are reachable by keyboard with a visible focus state.
  • The site supports screen-reader navigation through landmarks and skip-to-content links.

Known limitations

Some third-party content (e.g., embedded maps, payment widgets) may not fully meet our accessibility goals. We monitor these regularly and work with vendors to improve.

Report an accessibility issue

If you experience any difficulty using our shop or website, please tell us so we can fix it and help you get the service you came for.

Please include the page URL or shop service involved, the difficulty you encountered, and the assistive technology you were using (if any). We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Booking with accessibility needs

The fastest way to make sure your appointment goes smoothly is to mention any accessibility need when you book. The booking form has a free-text field for notes; you can also call the shop and we’ll add the note to your record so you only have to mention it once. Common requests we accommodate without issue:

  • Reserving the chair closest to the entrance to minimize walking distance.
  • Lowering the music or scheduling during a quieter time of day.
  • Allowing extra time for transfers in or out of the chair.
  • Working with a caregiver or support person present at the chair.
  • Providing written instead of verbal consultations for guests who prefer to read.
  • Using fragrance-free product options where available.

Ongoing improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We routinely audit the site, train our team, and update this statement as our practices improve. The website is built on modern, accessible component libraries that follow WAI-ARIA patterns; the shop layout is reviewed whenever we change furniture, signage, or workflow.

Standards we reference

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as the primary benchmark for the website. For the physical shop, we follow Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance and the Utah state accessibility code that applies to small commercial businesses. Where the standards are silent or in tension with practical shop operations, we err on the side of doing more than the minimum.

Tell us when we miss

The honest truth: we’re a small shop, and we won’t catch every barrier on our own. The best feedback we get is specific (“the contact form button didn’t announce its label to my screen reader,” “the chair height made transferring difficult”) because it gives us something we can fix. Email hello@saintcitybarber.com or call (435) 366-2661 and we’ll respond — usually the same day, always within five business days.
